Nepali Sports Teams Busy Abroad Even During Tihar

While most Nepalis are celebrating the festival of Tihar, national sports teams are representing Nepal in various international tournaments across several countries.

  • 🇧🇩 Men’s Volleyball: The Nepali men’s volleyball team left for Bangladesh to compete in the CAVA Men’s Nations Cup from Kartik 5–11. Six countries, including Nepal, will play in a round-robin format.
  • 🇧🇭 Asian Youth Games: Eight young Nepali athletes are participating in six sports—badminton, golf, judo, muay thai, swimming, and e-sports—at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (Kartik 5–14).
  • 🇦🇪 Cricket League 2: Following their historic qualification for the T20 World Cup, the men’s national cricket team is now in the UAE to play ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches against USA and UAE from Kartik 9–19.
  • 🇮🇳 Women’s Football: The women’s national football team will play two friendly matches in Sikkim, India, against Iran (Kartik 7) and India (Kartik 10). Captain Sabitra Bhandari and other foreign-based players have joined the squad.
  • 🇮🇳 Athletics: 26 Nepali athletes are heading to Ranchi, India, for the South Asian Senior Athletics Championship (Kartik 7–9).
  • 🇨🇳 Taekwondo: Eight players will represent Nepal at the World Taekwondo Championship in Wuxi, China (Kartik 7–13), followed by the Grand Slam Challenge (Kartik 16–18).

Despite the festive season, Nepali athletes continue to give priority to the nation’s pride over personal celebrations, showcasing dedication and unity through sports on the international stage.
